Age
Working with young people has been one of YCH’s aspirations for a number of years. To succeed at this it is important that the way they are communicated with fits their lifestyles and is relevant to how they live. One way that YCH has achieved this has been to set up a Facebook page that provides all “fans” with information about forthcoming events, activities and projects.
In addition the YCH website has undergone a face lift to make it even easier for customers to use; so its now far simpler to report repairs, anti-social behaviour and even pay rent through cyber-space!
It is also a common phenomenon that younger people are generally less satisfied with services, consequently YCH has conducted a targeted survey of all under 25’s to get in depth knowledge about how they view the services provided, and establish what needs to be done to meet their aspirations.
Understanding the age profile of our customers isn’t just about providing services for younger people. In helping keep our older residents healthy, active and independent YCH has upgraded the entertainment facilities in its community centres to include modern television and video equipment, alongside Wii Games consoles and Wii Fit boards; which sit nicely alongside the variety of traditional on-site activities taking place at many of the centres throughout the Borough, all of which help to create vibrant and active communities.
We are also investigating the age profile of customers requesting repairs to establish if any group is under-requesting or over-requesting repairs; this should lead us to introduce services to tackle any inequalities.
