Estate Management
We want everyone to be proud of their home and surroundings.
Our Responsibility
• Grass, shrubs and flowerbeds in communal gardens, for example in sheltered accommodation accomodation;
• Grass verges;
• Tree pruning in the grounds of our properties where necessary to prevent damage to structures, blocked gutters and extreme nuisance, and to keep them healthy. They will not cut trees down unless they are dead or dangerous. Many trees have preservation orders on them.
Footpaths
Generally, the responsibility for the maintenance of roads, footpaths and street lighting rests with Scarborough Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council. Some areas, however, are our responsibility, for example roads into our garage areas and footpaths across shared grassed areas. If they are our responsibility, we will regularly check them and carry out the maintenance that is needed. If however, you notice any areas that are becoming dangerous, please let us know.
Your Responsibility
Car parking
Car parking can be a problem on many of our estates that were built in a time when fewer people owned cars. Please be a good neighbour and park considerately. Do not park on grass or open spaces, including you garden, unless there is a dropped kerb and you have written permission and a properly constructed drive way. If you want to build a driveway or car port you must get permission from us.
Gardens
We hope you will take pride in your garden. It is your responsibility to make sure it is tidy and in reasonable condition. You should not use it to store rubbish or unwanted items or furniture. If you are older or disabled and need help to maintain your garden you should talk to your Tenancy Services Officer.
Litter and rubbish
Please do not dump rubbish in the street, in your garden or any part of your local environment. Fly-tipping is an offence and we will prosecute persistent offenders. Scarborough Borough Council provides a collection service for bulky household items. Contact their Customer First Centre on 01723 232323 for details.
Vandalism
If you, anyone living with you, or anyone visiting you deliberately damages of defaces any part of your home, estate or anything belonging to us, you will be recharged the cost of putting the matter right.
If you witness an act of vandalism please report it to your Tenancy Services Officer or the police. Alternatively, you can leave a message on the Safer Communities Partnership Anti-Social Behaviour Hotline 01723 384444 and they will pass the message on to the appropriate organisation, the next working day (please note this is not a response line).
