Our main office in Scarborough is an official Hate Incident Reporting Centre for members of the public and not just our customers.
What is a Hate Incident Reporting Centre?
Such centres have been set up in safe and friendly environments across the country to encourage the reporting of racist, homophobic and other hate crimes by people who may feel unable to report them at a police station.
A hate incident can be:
• Visual – leaflets, letters, posters
• Physical – hitting, kicking, spitting, threats, assault
• Verbal – abuse, harassment
• Property – graffiti, damage, theft
How to report a hate incident
Come to our main office in Scarborough. Tell the receptionist that you would like to report a hate incident. The receptionist will contact a specially trained member of staff to take your statement in a private interview room. Each team at Yorkshire Coast Homes has a member of staff who has been specially trained in how to take reports of hate incidents.
If you wish, we will send copies of the report to the Police and other support agencies. This multi-agency approach means that all relevant agencies will work together to offer professional support to take effective action to stop the abuse and with your consent prosecute the perpetrator.
