Equality, Diversity & Inclusion month at Yorkshire Coast Homes

Yorkshire Coast Homes is celebrating Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) by hosting a variety of community events, educational sessions and quizzes through -out the month of January.

Today, YCH Housing staff members organised a ‘Food Sharing Get Together’ with local Syrian residents at Bell Close Community Centre in Seamer. Staff cooked typical British favourites such as Fish & Chips and Yorkshire Puddings with meat (Quorn) and gravy and in return the residents brought along some tasty Syrian dishes for all of the staff to taste.

YCH staff member and EDI Chairperson Zoe Kendell said, “What a great event! The Syrian food was absolutely delicious and it was fantastic to see residents, staff members and other agencies just having a chat and getting to know each other. The Syrian community in Scarborough is still fairly new so what better way to get to know one and other than sharing tasty food!”

EDI month will continue to be celebrated through January at YCH so make sure that you Like us on Facebook and Follow us on Twitter for the latest #YCHedi18 updates.
